Moose on the Bikepath!

February 4, 2015

Last week the City of Ottawa published a bid solicitation towards the unlateral removal of tracks on a federally-regulated railway, seeking an exclusive rails-TO-trails option even though all of the city's approved plans call for a multi-use rails-WITH-trails solution.

Yesterday Moose Inc. (Mobility Ottawa-Outaouais: Systems & Enterprises Inc.) asked the federal  Canadian Transportation Agency to enforce its 2012 Decision regarding the Prince of Wales Bridge between Ottawa and Gatineau. Details are in the media release, and in the copy of the formal submission posted below. Moose Inc. is working towards both a passenger rail service and a cycling/pedestrian trail across that bridge. This multi-use perpective is referred to internationally by the name "rails-with-trails". We are interested in your thoughts.
