OC Transpo donations for me? No, that’s just not in the cards.

Here’s my take on the Mayor’s Christmas party:

1. Neat idea but $60K seems extravagant.
2. It’s not enough for the Mayor’s staff to claim ignorance about the various Donors’ motivations – part of the job of leading the City is to avoid even the appearance of conflict.
3. Cash donations from other branches of the City are inappropriate – that’s nothing less than re-directed taxes or fees.
4. The subsequent ‘donation’ to the Food Bank is only a symptom of the contemptuous, hyper-partisan climate of entitlement at City Hall.

I’m glad the Food Bank got the money but, please City Hall, no more self-aggrandizement at our expense.
