Social Media entrepreneur gets the nod for Ontario Greens in Nepean

(Nepean, ON) - The Green Party of Ontario is pleased to announce James O'Grady has been nominated to represent the Green Party in the next Ontario provincial election in the new riding of Nepean, in the Greater Ottawa Area.
Mr. O'Grady grew up in Nepean and continues to reside at his family home in the community of Trend-Arlington. He is a social media entrepreneur, community advocate and part-time school teacher.
A grassroots democracy advocate, Mr. O'Grady founded and launched in 2013, after an unsuccessful bid for Ottawa City Council in Ward 9 in 2010, where he finished 2nd out of 10 candidates with just under 20% support. is a self-publishing, social media website for current affairs in Ottawa and across the country. It provides a platform and tools for Canadians to share their ideas, opinions and projects with friends, family, colleagues and interested Canadians.
Mr. O'Grady's ties to his community run deep. His family moved into the riding in 1970 when he was three years old. He attended all three of the public schools on Greenbank Rd (Knoxdale PS, Greenbank MS and Sir Robert Borden HS). Growing up, he played hockey in the Nepean Minor Hockey system and starred in high school for the SRB Blues, winning his team's MVP after leading them to the finals in Grade 13.
Mr. O'Grady recently stepped down as President of the Trend-Arlington Community Association after serving as President and VP from 2009-2016. During that time Mr. O'Grady helped lead community opposition to two oversized developments on Greenbank Rd. He also coached youth softball, organized the hockey day shinny tournament 'Hockey Day in Ward 9', founded the Knoxdale-Merivale Council of Community Associations in Ward 9 (the only ward council remaining in Ottawa), and served two years as VP Communications for the Federation of Citizens Associations in Ottawa (FCA)--an umbrella organization of community associations and community groups in Ottawa. While with the FCA, Mr. O'Grady organized two public information sessions on the Emerald Ash Borer beetle that has destroyed millions of ash trees in Ontario alone. He is also a member of the Greenspace Alliance of Canada's capital.
