The ministry’s evaluation of the environmental assessment for the proposed Ottawa east end dump has been released and your help is needed! The Minister of the Environment and Climate Change must decide whether or not to approve the Environmental Assessment. This is where YOUR help is required. It appears that some of the concerns raised by residents of the community were not addressed and that there are conflicting documented observations between experts.

The Ontario website indicates that Glen Murray is our Minister of the Environment and Climate Change and that he is quoted as saying that “Fighting climate change and working to keep our air, land, and water clean will ensure Ontario’s prosperity and quality of life for today and for future generations.”

If Glen Murray and his government are really fighting climate change and working to keep Ontario clean, then they must consider what our experts say – particularly more so since our experts do not always agree with the proponents’ experts.

We want you to write to Minister Glen Murray and ask him to reject the CRRRC proposed project (EA File 10261), or at the very least refer the proposal to a full public hearing before the Environment Review Tribunal. We want you to ask your friends and neighbours.

We have prepared form letters for you to sign and mail - visit http://www.dumpthisdump2.ca/act-now/
You can also cut and paste what you want from each of the four letter and send an email to Minister Murray at minister.moecc@ontario.ca and gmurray.mpp@liberal.ola.org  Don't forget to c.c. us at dumpthisdump2@gmail.com  and to add the file number:  EA 10261 in your subject line.

You can call or write the two concerned MPPs and let them know that you do NOT want this proposed dump:
Grant Crack, MPP, (Glengarry-Prescott-Russell) 613-446-4010  Email  gcrack.mpp.co@liberal.ola.org
Marie-France Lalonde, MPP (Ottawa-Orleans) 613-834-8679  Email :  mflalonde.mpp.co@liberal.ola.org

NOT FAMILIAR WITH FACTS ABOUT THIS MEGA-DUMP?

  • Taggart-Miller proposes another mega-dump in Ottawa
  • Taggart Miller would dump 12 million tonnes of industrial waste,  to start with
  • 360,000 trucks of industrial waste would arrive each year at this dump
  • Anyone in Ontario could send their waste here, including Toronto
  • Waste trucks would rumble through many Ottawa neighbourhoods

Huge dump is NOT what our Region needs! We already have excess dump capacity for this type of industrial, commercial and institutional garbage!

  • This would be a PRIVATE, for-profit, industrial dump on 450 acres
  • 80% of the waste would be buried – that’s NOT recycling!
  • Families and young children nearby drink well water, as do farmers and their animals
  • We need to protect our natural resources - ESPECIALLY water

City of Ottawa taxpayers will be stuck paying for the clean-up

  • Ottawa already has 4 large dumps that all leak
  • Project would spill pollution into the water and air
  • WE need to ask Mayor Watson to speak-up for Ottawa and REJECT this high-risk project!

We need DumpThisDump TOGETHER!
